what's the difference btwn pie crusts?

I'm going to be making my first apple pie this thanksgiving. I got a reciepe from the food network website that had rave reviews from everyone. Some people said though that they used the pillsbury roll out crust and it taste the same and takes less time. I'm looking at the "pet-ritz frozen pie crusts" and the "rollered refrigeraed pie crusts" and I wanna know what's the difference? I like that the frozen one comes with the pan but I wanna know if there's a difference taste wise? If the rolled one taste better then I wouldn't mind buying the pan for my pie. Any help is greatly appreciated since I am new to the baking world...thanks

I have found that it does not make much difference.  If you have a nice pie plate you want to use then use the one you roll out and put in a pie plate.  If you need to bring a dessert and don't want to worry about bringing back you plate then use the one that comes in the pie tin.
Also there are two types of Pet Ritz pie shells one is the regular the other is the deep dish type.  I like the deep dish one better.  Nicer looking pies.

thank you so much! Since I have to carry two pies to different houses I will use the pet-ritz and go with your opinion using the deep dish one. I really appreciate your help, I wasn't sure what to do. Smile

The convenience of using the Pet Ritz frozen pie crusts is a major factor if you are rushed for time. They are very good plus they are already in a pie pan.  I really do like the Pillsbury roll out crusts - they always come out good so it would be a toss-up between the two. I learned by experience this year to only buy the Pillsbury brand of the roll out crusts. The store brands have a funny taste and do not hold together.  Surprise
